  1. I am interested in studies at the Faculty of Philology. Where can I find basic information?

You can study as an international student combining high-quality education with a singular cultural experience living in Serbia. The Faculty of Philology organizes academic and professional studies based on accredited higher education study programs at various academic levels: Undergraduate, Master and Doctoral, alongside other professional degrees and academic certificates.

 

You can also study under the Erasmus+ or other student exchange programs. The University of Belgrade has Bilateral Cooperation Agreements with many universities around the world. Opportunities will depend on whether a relevant field of study or research is specified in the Bilateral Exchange Agreement signed between your home institution and the Faculty of Philology (or respective faculty department).


  1. What kind of studies does the Faculty of Philology offer?

 

The Faculty of Philology offers accredited philology and culture studies in Undergraduate, Master and Doctoral programs. Graduate students obtain diplomas and diploma supplements, as well as the academic title.

 

The Faculty of Philology provides 13 programs of study:

  1. What is the language of instruction? Do you offer study programs in English?

International applicants may study in Serbian language or in one of the numerous foreign languages taught at the Faculty of Philology. Many courses at all study levels and degrees are offered in English.

 

The Faculty of Philology is a unique higher-education institution in the field of language, literature and culture learning and teaching where you can opt for as many as 39 languages: Albanian, Ancient Greek, Arabic, Azerbaijani, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Greek, English, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Macedonian, Norwegian, Old Church Slavonic, Ottoman, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romani, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Turkish, Sign Language, Swedish, Spanish, and Ukrainian.

  1. How can I apply?

The registration for international students is held by the end of August/ at the beginning of September. You can find detailed information here.

 

The application for Erasmus+ Mobility Program should be completed online through the software platform MobiOn.

  1. How can I get my diploma recognized in Serbia?

High school diplomas or the academic degree diplomas should be recognized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia. For more information please visit the University of Belgrade website. Required documents:


By the time of enrolment you need to get your academic degree diploma or high school diploma recognized (or the certificate that the diploma recognition is in progress in order to enter the registration).

In order to continue your studies, the Undergraduate academic studies diploma and Master’s degree diploma is recognized by the University of Belgrade.


  1. How much does it cost to study at the Faculty of Philology?

The tuition fee for international students is 2500 Euros (in RSD equivalent value) if the classes are delivered in Serbian (Serbian language certificate issued by the Faculty of Philology is needed) or 6000 Euros (in RSD equivalent value) for the courses/ consultative teaching held in English. Tuition fee rates are valid for the entire academic year.


  1. Where can I find information on Serbian language courses organized by the Faculty of Philology?

Center for Serbian as a Foreign Language offers courses and certification exams according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.


  1. How is the academic year organized?

One academic year is divided into two semesters – winter and summer. Each one includes instruction and examination periods.

 

  • Winter semester: 2nd Monday in October – December 30
  • Examination period: January 20 – February 25
  • Summer semester: February 25 – June 1
  • Examination period: June 1 – July 10
  • Examination period: September 1–25
